BedInABox offers a couple of mattress models in the market which includes the Original, Tranquillium, Azul, Dual Hybrid, and Nimbus. But for now, we will focus on the Original version to identify its features and know why customers love it.
Construction
The BedInABox Original Mattress is an all-foam mattress that contains a few layers only. On the other hand, the brand assures customers that its foams are all CertiPUR-US Certified and OEKO-TEX Certified. Its 11 inches thick profile combines comfort and support at an affordable price using CoolRest Gel memory foam. Made in the USA, this model was manufactured and released by BedInABox in 2007 and previously known as the PacBed Original Gel. Since this mattress has a “no-flip” design, you can only rotate it to even out its wears and tears. On the other hand, this is one of those mattresses that work well with adjustable bases. Thus, it’s a pretty versatile mattress especially if you love reclining your bed or raising your feet while in bed. Inside this mattress is a 3 inches comfort layer that is made of CoolRest memory foam. With a 3 pounds density, this layer has the most advanced, consistent and the best quality gel foam. Below this memory foam is the support layer that is 8 inches thick. With 2 pounds density, this SureAlign High-Density support foam is designed to promote spinal alignment. To keep these layers in good shape, the by BedInABox Original Mattress is encased in a smooth knit cover. This luxurious mattress cover has a 420-gram weight with a circular knit pattern and striking blue border fabric. Therefore, this bed doesn’t only feel good, it also looks good.
Firmness
BedInABox designed this mattress with an enhanced level of softness and support. Using one layer of comfort foam and support foam, BedInABox came up with this Original mattress with a medium-firm feel. Its plush CoolRest memory foam is meant to provide you a body-contouring comfort and maintain its cozy feeling. Meanwhile, its SureAlign High-Density foam is there to reinforce its upper layer and balance its firmness.
Support
Having a luxurious looking mattress is not always enough since it can’t give complete satisfaction that every customer needs. Of course, BedInABox made sure that this mattress can provide your needed support starting from its cover to its support foam. Its support foam is designed to promote the natural alignment of your spine while you sleep. Meanwhile, its comfort foam is designed to keep you from sinking too deep into the mattress with the help of its gel.
Temperature Regulation
For the cooling solution, BedInABox came prepared to cater for warm and hot sleepers. Compared with the traditional foam mattresses out there with memory foam, this all-foam model is not that hot. Why? This is due to its high-quality gel that is infused into its layer of memory foam. This gel absorbs the excess heat from your body and helps regulate the temperature while you slumber. Thus, you don’t have to wake up swimming in your sweat anymore.
Casper Mattress
- Hot sleepers
- Shoppers who are willing to invest in a more expensive mattress
- Back and light to medium-weight side sleeper
- Anyone who wants a thick mattress
- Those who prefer an all-foam responsive mattress
Just like BedInABox, Casper also offers different models of mattresses but fewer. There’s the Wave, Casper, and Essential. Among these three models, only the Essential mattress has no construction built options such as the Original and Hybrid. So for this review, we will focus on the original versions
Construction
The Casper Mattress contains a total of 5 layers that make up its 13 inches profile. As one of the OGs, this all-foam mattress has the latest model among the three. Available in the Original Wave version this is considered as the most advanced mattress that Casper designed and manufactured. So, this foam mattress is constructed using various types of high-quality materials on each layer. The fabric that encases this mattress provides that cozy feeling thanks to its sweatshirt-like texture and quality. Meanwhile, its inviting top layer has a blend of material that created a polyfoam known for its light supreme comfort. Under this top layer are a couple of more high-quality foams which include a thin layer of breathable foam. This 1-inch tall foam is placed on top of 1.5 inches tall breathable latex foam. For the next layer, Casper used a layer of soft foam that is 1.5 inches tall. This serves as the pressure-relieving memory foam which is followed by a transition layer. To enhance its comfort and support, the brand designed this layer with a zoned construction. Lastly, there’s the standard base polyfoam that completes its thick profile. With a three-tiered comfort system, the Wave mattress makes it top and bottom layers work well with its middle layer.
Firmness
If the BedInABox mattress has a medium-firm feel, don’t be surprised to know that this Original Wave version has the same feel. That is if you weigh less than 230 pounds. Sleepers who weigh 230 pounds or more may find this mattress a bit firmer. This version may also feel firmer when you lie on your stomach or back and softer when you’re on your side. Therefore, your size and position truly matter when it comes to this mattress.
Support
In general, the Original Wave version offers great support regardless of your sleeping position. Its overall support feels nice for back sleepers with just enough sinkage in the area of the hips. But since this mattress is designed to offer the most advanced support, it comes in handy for relieving aches or pains. Its unique ergonomic system can precisely contour to your body by mirroring your body shape as its targeted gel pods align your spine. Specifically, it feels a little soft under your shoulders with a bit sinkage to align your body at 27 key points. Its gel pods provide a superior level of support under the hips, core area and legs to keep your spine straight. When it comes to motion transfer, this Wave mattress does isolate motion. However, it lacks enough edge support that couples can use to utilize the entire mattress.
Temperature Regulation
As mentioned above, this Waver version is the most advanced foam mattress from Casper. This means that it is also packed with cooling solutions to regulate temperature. If you tend to feel warm or hot during your sleep, this mattress has one of the coolest designs. Its materials can double down on temperature regulation using its unique perforated design on its breathable foam to maximize the airflow. Besides, it also has a luxurious wool-infused cover that can get rid of heat.
Differences
For the differences, let’s start with its construction. Both are all-foam mattresses but Casper has more layers of foams which made also made it thicker compared with BedInABox. Casper has more temperature-regulating layers from its cover to its foams while BedInABox has thick CoolRest memory foam. When it comes to customer service and convenience, BedInABox offers up to 120-night risk-free trial and 20-year warranty. Meanwhile, Casper offers up to 100-night risk-free trial and 10-year warranty only. Regardless of the size you prefer, BedInABox mattresses also weigh less which is important if you have to move it around. For the price, Casper costs between $1,256 (Twin) and $2,516 (King and Cal King) while BedInABox costs between $499 (Twin) and $949 (King and Cal King) only.
Verdict
Are you still confused about which mattress to pick? In that case, then consider these points below?
Is money an issue?
If you want an affordable mattress, BedInABox is the clear winner. But if you want a more advanced mattress with a thicker profile, you’ll have to invest more in Casper.
Do you move out a lot?
If you live in a dorm or apartment, you might want to consider a lighter mattress which is easier to move. But if this is not an issue, Casper is also a great option.
