Buying Guide

Key purchase considerations help ensure you select a mattress cover that best meets pest protection needs and sleep comfort. First, confirm depth compatibility. Encasements should match or exceed your mattress thickness and any toppers. Six-sided zippers generally offer more comprehensive protection than three-sided designs, reducing the risk of bed bugs bypassing the cover.

Second, evaluate waterproofing versus breathability. Waterproof barriers guard against spills and accidents but can feel warmer if the fabric is heavy. Look for breathable, knit fabrics or membranes that balance protection with airflow to prevent heat buildup and sweating during the night.

Third, consider the material and noise level. Soft, quiet fabrics improve sleep quality, whereas rough textures or stiff seams can create discomfort or audible rustling under sheets. Hypoallergenic options are beneficial for sleepers with allergies, asthma, or sensitive skin.

Fourth, assess durability and care. Pick covers with strong seams, reliable zippers, and easy washing instructions. A few brands offer warranties or extended guarantees, which can be a signal of long-term durability and performance.

Fifth, sizing and compatibility. Measure your mattress depth (including toppers) and choose a depth range that allows a secure, snug fit. If you have a box spring or a thick pillow-top, ensure the encasement accommodates those dimensions to prevent shifting or gaps.
