Sealy Mattress
- Memory foam lovers who seek more comfort layers
- Individuals of all sizes
- Stomach, back, side, and combo sleepers
- Anyone who needs a supportive core foam
Sealy offers multiple lines of mattresses including cocoon, innerspring, memory foam, and hybrid mattresses. Each mattress comes in different sizes and firmness levels. For this post, we’ll focus on the conform line which offers Memory Foams like Sealy Conform Premium Mattress (Plush).
Construction
This mattress contains multiple materials in 5 layers. For its outer layer, it has the Ultra-Stretch ComfortLoft cover with chill material. Its fabric with mid-loft knit is super stretchable and feels cool to the touch to help you sleep better. Under its cover, it has the exclusive material from Sealy known as the SealyChill Gel Memory Foam. This 2″ foam is specifically designed with 3-Zone and PCM gold. Its gel can help the foam adapt to your body shape and size. Next, 2″ SealyCool Gel Memory Foam adds another layer of conforming foam. It is also infused with gel beads to make them more flexible and durable for support. Underneath this layer is the 3″ ComfortSense Gel Memory Foam which is considered the latest innovation among gel memory foams. ComfortSense Foam is designed to respond according to your unique body shape to ensure you a comfortable sleep every night. Its last layer is the 6″ SealySupport Gel Base Foam. This final layer provides a high-quality supportive feel with firmer foam. Overall, this memory foam has 13″ thick profile which is available in different sizes. Depending on your size and your partner’s, you can get it in Twin Long, Full, Queen, King, and California King sizes.
Firmness
This Sealy Memory Foam comes in both a plush and cushion firm feel. The plush version comes with thicker SealyChill Gel Memory Foam. It also has a thicker Sealy ComfortSense Gel Memory Foam which provides a plush feel.
Temperature Regulation
This plush version of the Sealy Conform Line consists of multiple layers that keep it cool all night. First, it has a stretchable cover that is made with chill cooling technology which makes its fabric cool to the touch. Next to this are its SealyChill Gel Memory Foam, SealyCool Gel Memory Foam, Sealy ComfortSense Gel Memory Foam, and SealySupport Gel Base Foam. In other words, all materials of this Sealy Conform Premium Mattress are made with the latest cooling technology. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about sweating at night even if you’re a hot sleeper. Its gel-infused memory foams will cushion your body to get rid of excess heat from your body for a cool sleep
Support
This plush version has a thinner foam base compared to its cushion firm version. However, Sealy designed it to provide targeted support just where you need it. This is thanks to its Posturepedic Technology which the company developed with the aid of orthopedic specialists. It targets the heaviest parts of your body to provide reinforced support. At the same time, the Posturepedic Technology uses a top layer that has a denser feel in the middle area. No need to worry that the middle area will sag.
Serta Mattress
- Memory foam lovers who want more edge support
- Stomach, back, and combo sleepers with a small-medium frame
- Side sleepers with large frames
- Anyone who needs temperature regulation
Just like Sealy, Serta offers multiple models in its online and physical stores. It offers the Perfect Sleeper, iComfort, Mattress in a Box, Hotel Mattresses, SleepTrue, and other mattress models. We’re going to focus on the Express Mattress from its Perfect Sleeper line.
Construction
This Serta Perfect Sleeper has a thinner profile than Sealy’s 13″ profile. The Perfect Sleeper consists of 4 layers which include its Breathable Knit Cover with CoolFeel technology. Under this is the exclusive Serra Premium Gel Memory Foam which has a body-conforming capacity as the first comfort layer. Its second comfort layer is the Serta Gel Infused Support Foam which provides additional cushioning comfort. For its support system, this Perfect Sleep Express has the Serta Foam Core which completes its 12″ profile. Just like the Sealy mattress, this Express Mattress is also available in different sizes, including Twin, Full, Queen, and King.
Firmness
Compared with the Sealy mattress, this model is only available in a firm feel. It suits light to medium weight back, stomach, and combo sleepers. Since it is a firm pure memory foam mattress, it might not feel comfortable for side sleepers with a small frame. If you’re heavyweight, its firmness level might feel slightly optimal even if you sleep on your side.
Temperature Regulation
This Serta Perfect Sleeper Express contains multiple layers with cooling technology. Its Premium Gel Memory Foam helps reduce the excess heat from your body as the mattress sleep surface. Its Gel Infused Support Foam also reinforces the top layer to get rid of heat from the mattress. This Perfect Sleeper Express Mattress even has a CoolFeel cover that is more breathable than other regular mattress covers.
Support
This mattress has a thick Serta Foam Core to ensure support. This layer reinforces its previous layers to give you full-body support while sleeping. One of the best things about its support system is its offered edge support. You can feel safer even when you’re lying near the edge of the bed. Its supportive capacity is guaranteed after its hassle-free bed-in-a-box mattress setup.
Differences
What are the main differences between these Serta and Sealy mattresses? Let’s start with the price. For the Sealy mattress, its prices range from $2,274 (Twin Long) to $2,799 (King and California King). Meanwhile, the Serta mattress has a price range from $699 (Twin) to $1,099 (King). When it comes to sizes, Serta’s smallest size starts with the Twin size while Sealy starts with the Twin Long size. If you want a mattress that is bigger than a King size, you can rely on Sealy since it is also available in California King size. If you want a brand that offers more firmness options, Sealy offers the best variety with plush and cushion firm. Serta is available in a firm feel only.
If you’re buying a mattress for you and your partner, the edge is one of the most important things to consider. In this case, the Serta mattress has more edge support than the Sealy mattress since it consists of firmer pure memory foams.
Verdict
Still can’t decide whether to go with Serta or Sealy? No worries. Here are some questions that can help you make your final verdict:
How much is your budget?
If your budget for a premium mattress is less than $1,000, Serta is your best option. If you have a little more money in the budget and want to ensure quality, Sealy is worth the investment.
Are you a hot sleeper?
Both mattresses contain materials that can handle the heat. However, the Sealy mattress contains more high-quality materials that can keep you cool throughout the night.
Do you share your bed?
Size is very important when you share your bed. This is where Sealy’s California King sized-bed can come in handy to accommodate sleepers with large frames or who sleep with a partner. But when it comes to the edge support, we recommend Serta due to its firmer feel, especially on the edge.
