- Individuals with small to medium-sized frames
- Anyone who wants a foam and spring mattress for enhanced comfort and support
- Back, side, and combo sleepers
Before we head straight to the full details, we just want to say that Temur-Pedic and Leesa are both great brands. The mattresses we chose for this comparison are unique and awesome in their own rights. However, only one should remain standing and that is up to your taste and needs.
Construction
First things first, this Leesa Hybrid Mattress is a luxury bed with a profile that is 11 inches thick. It is encased in a hybrid cover that has a gray and white color combination which creates a soft and seamless design. It’s the kind of cover that already looks perfect with or without a cover (we recommend putting a cover though). Under its cover, this hybrid mattress consists of multiple layers of materials.
Its first layer is meant to be comfort foam that has a hole-punched design and responsive feel. This 1.5 inches responsive foam provides enough hug and bounce rate that many sleepers love in a hybrid mattress. The next material underneath this foam is 1.5 inches memory foam which serves as a recovery layer. This memory foam provides improved body contouring that can help relieve pressure on your body. Specifically, this layer of material targets pressure points like your shoulders, back, and hips.
For its last layer, it has the quick response layer which includes more than 1,000 springs. This coil support system lies between additional core support foam layers that are 1 inch thin. Meanwhile, these individually encased spring coils that are 6 inches tall guarantee active response whenever you move in bed. Now, you can get this mattress in various sizes which range from Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, and California King.
Firmness
On a scale of 1 to 10, this Lessa Hybrid Mattress has a score of 6 when it comes to its firmness. The softest is 1 and the hardest is 10. This means that it can be referred to as a medium-firm mattress as well. It has that soft feel at first when you lie in bed as its foam layers adjust to your size and weight. Once it reached its maximum sinkage, that’s the time you will feel the firm support that lies beneath it. It’s not that firm and its firmness level is enough to give you just the right the bounce.
Temperature Regulation
Are you a hot sleeper? Leesa can take care of that with its hole-punched designed on its cooling premium foam. This top layer weighs 3 pounds with 13 IFD. As a solution for hot sleepers, Leesa designed this layer to be extra breathable compared with the average foam that standard mattresses use on the market. Its holes allow air to flow freely through the mattress and prevent trapping heat which causes discomfort and sweating. Thus, its foam layers and bouncy springs can give you a cool hug whenever you need some sleep.
Support
Whether you suffer from shoulder and back pains, this hybrid mattress can definitely help you sleep better. Its combined layers of premium foams and over 1,000 pocket spring system provide allow it to provide excellent support. This includes offering enhanced pressure relief and reduced motion transfer across the bed which is ideal for couples. Regardless of how you sleep, this mattress can cradle and help align your body properly to ensure a well-rested feeling. You can even benefit from its edge to edge support whether you sleep alone or not. Most importantly, it works best on any firm and solid foundation, platform bed, or adjustable base.
Tempur-Pedic Mattress
- Memory foam and hybrid mattress lovers
- Shoppers who seek premium mattresses with various firmness
- Sleepers who prefer a super thick mattress for optimum support
- Those who tend to sleep hot and sweat a lot in sleep
- Various sleeping positions
Since Tempur-Pedic offers several mattress lines on the market, we decided to focus on a single line for this post. So, we settled for the TEMPUR-breeze to review its hybrid PRObreeze mattress.
Construction
If you’re having a hard time sleeping because of the hot weather that keeps you sweating all night, Tempur-Pedic might help. This TEMPUR-breeze mattress contains not just 1, 2 or 3 layers of materials but 5. Thus, don’t be surprised to know that it has a 12 inches thick profile to cradle your body. Just like the Leesa mattress, this hybrid has a cover that is made of high-quality materials using Tempur-Pedic’s state-of-the-art technology. Its cover is designed with the SmartClimate Dual Cover System which has a zippered enclosure. The outer layer feels cool to the touch while the inner layer is made of special material. This gives it super stretchable to offer more comfort and convenience while you sleep. Its next layer is a PureCool+ Phase Change material which is made of an exclusive next-generation technology from Tempur-Pedic. Next to this layer is the TEMPUR-CM+ which is considered as an advanced TEMPUR material. Tempur-Pedic designed this to reinforce PureCool+ and protect the Original TEMPUR material below it. The Original TEMPUR material has an advanced adaptability capacity while its Hybrid Technology underneath it provides optimum durability and stability. Now, this hybrid mattress is available in more sizes compared with the Leesa Hybrid Mattress. This TEMPUR-PRObreeze hybrid mattress is available in Twin Long, Double/Full, Queen, King, Split King, California King, and Split California King.
Firmness
If the Leesa Hybrid Mattress has a medium-firm feel, this Tempur-Pedic has a medium firmness. It's not too soft and not too hard so it feels just right “in the middle”. If you suffer from lack of sleep due to back and shoulder pains, perhaps this mattress can change your life. Confirmed customers who tried this mattress say that they feel healthier now which also improved their mood. Of course, having positive vibes all day can help boost your productivity and fight stress while you work.
Temperature Regulation
If you think that the cooling solution of Leesa Hybrid Mattress is not enough to keep you cool, tryTempur-Pedic. Compared with other mattresses on the market, this hybrid mattress is specifically made to be 3° cooler. This means that if you’re a hot sleeper, this is something you shouldn’t miss to avoid sweating in sleep. All of its materials are infused with a certain cooling technology which allows the entire mattress to remain cool. For instance, its cover feels cool when you touch it. Meanwhile, its PureCool+ layer serves as the heat absorber instead of trapping it in the mattress. This is reinforced by the TEMPUR-CM+ which is a redesigned material to allow maximum airflow throughout the mattress all night. Thus, it can also get rid of the heat and humidity in your bed. If these materials are still not enough to keep you cool, TEMPUR-breeze can always offer you a cooler mattress. Nonetheless, sleeping on this TEMPUR-PRObreeze mattress can help you fall asleep as soon as your body hits the bed.
Support
For this aspect, Tempur-Pedic made sure that its support system is always on point. This is due to its premium spring coils that the brand designed to help you move better in bed. Again, this connects to its firmness level which prevents you from sinking too deep for ease of movement. Its foam layers, especially its Original TEMPUR material provides personalized support for each sleeper to score high customer satisfaction rating. Regardless of your preferred sleeping position, this mattress can contour to your body well. Most importantly, you don’t have to worry about disturbing your partner’s sleep (if you share your bed) whenever you move or get up.
Differences
Since the Tempur-Pedic and Leesa mattresses we reviewed are both hybrids, it’s easy to pinpoint their similarities. But for the differences, we will start with the price. The price of Leesa’s mattress ranges from $849 (Twin) to $1,614 (California King) while the price of Tempur-Pedic’s mattress ranges from $3,099 (Twin Long) to $6,198 (Split California King). Take note that these are their discounted prices already but the difference is still huge. Another thing that we noticed is the size. Although Tempur-Pedic doesn’t offer a Twin size mattress for its hybrid PRObreeze, it offers Split King and Split California King sizes. If you have a small frame that fits a Twin size, you can find that at Leesa. But if you want a Split CA King, you can get that at Tempur-Pedic. For all hot sleepers out there, we also noticed that the latter brand contains more cooling materials in its mattress. Thus, its marketed “3° cooler mattress” is pretty convincing compared with Leesa’s ability to keep you cool.
Verdict
If you’re still confused about which one to pick between Tempur-Pedic and Leesa, try to ask these questions to yourself. Who knows, answering a couple of our guide questions might be the key to your final verdict.
First, how much are you willing to spend on a new mattress?
If your budget is below $2,000 we recommend the Leesa Hybrid Mattress. It can already give you a balanced mattress with medium-firm feel. But if you’re fine with spending a generous amount of money on a premium mattress, we recommend the TEMPUR-PRObreeze Medium Hybrid Mattress.
Second, how much cooling technology do you like in your mattress?
If a cool mattress cover is not enough to keep you from sweating, the multiple cooling layers of Tempur-Pedic might do.
